The Okanagan Coyotes women’s basketball team opened their playoff run with a milestone victory Thursday, earning their first-ever postseason win with a 79–64 triumph over the Langara Falcons at the PACWEST Championship.
Deadlocked 36–36 at halftime, the Coyotes came out strong in the third quarter, building momentum and never looking back. Devon Felt led the team with 15 points, while Soleil Wilding added 14 in a balanced offensive effort.
Despite being the sixth seed, the Falcons challenged OC early and showed resilience, even after a tough moment when guard Rachel Labrador went down with an ankle injury. The game was briefly paused as she was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
With the win, the Coyotes advance to face the #2-seeded Capilano Blues in Friday’s semi-final.
