Kelowna College Basketball Society
The Kelowna College Basketball Society is the non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that proudly funds the Okanagan College Coyotes women’s and men’s basketball teams. Our dedicated team of volunteers, including coaches and support staff, ensures our student-athletes have the opportunity to compete.
We provide the critical infrastructure for the program’s success. This includes funding all travel, accommodations, and facility rentals for practices and games—a significant undertaking, as the Okanagan College Kelowna campus does not currently have a gymnasium.
Furthermore, our support covers essential operational costs such as uniforms, equipment, league fees, referees, medical supplies, and game-day personnel. Beyond the logistics, our primary mission is to provide financial assistance to our student-athletes, enabling them to excel in the sport they love while pursuing their education.
How do we accomplish This Huge Task?
As a community-based organization, we are entirely dependent on the support of local individuals and businesses. Our funding model relies on partners who advertise in our game-day programs and on gym banners, as well as those who sponsor our athletes directly.
Our annual operating budget is $250,000. To help achieve this, each player, upon joining Okanagan College, commits to securing $1,500 in advertising or sponsorship, ensuring they are active partners in the program’s sustainability.
This program’s impact extends far beyond basketball. We are committed to the growth and development of young athletes into leaders, both on and off the court. Community support is the essential element that allows this opportunity to continue.
