The Okanagan Coyotes women’s basketball team closed out the regular season in style, cruising to a 92–58 win over the Douglas Royals Friday night to lock in third place in the PACWEST standings.
OC was firing on all cylinders offensively, shooting 46% from the field. Star forward Jordan Kemper led the charge with a 25-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Natasha Alfonso chipped in 18 points and Paloma Niz Velazquez added 14 off the bench.
The win marked the Coyotes’ 10th of the season and secured a favorable seeding heading into the PACWEST Championship Tournament. They’ll open playoff action Thursday in a quarterfinal matchup against the sixth-seeded Langara Falcons.
On the Royals’ side, offensive struggles continued as they managed just 34% shooting. Jenessa Knapp led with 11 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace. Douglas will finish fourth in the standings and will face the Camosun Chargers in their quarterfinal matchup on Thursday.
