Dino Gini, founder and head coach of the Okanagan College Basketball Program since 2016, has built the Coyotes into a respected competitor in PACWEST while maintaining a strong community and family culture. His coaching journey began at Immaculata High School, where he led the senior girls to numerous provincial titles and captured the school’s only senior boys provincial championship. Earlier, Dino developed his craft in the Thunder Bay high school system before moving to the university ranks as an assistant coach at Lakehead University under the legendary late John Zannatta. He later continued his post-secondary coaching career at UBCO alongside Pete Guarasci.
Beyond the sidelines, Dino manages every detail of OC’s self-funded program — from recruiting and sponsorships to travel logistics. Having battled through cancer in 2021 and a full knee replacement in 2024, his resilience reflects the grit he instills in his players. Through youth tournaments, camps, and community outreach, Dino continues to strengthen the game of basketball throughout the Okanagan Valley.
